Register for 2019 Canton Brewing Company Gray for May Mile

Event Title: Gray for May

Community Mile walk/run: The Mile That Matters

Beer Run: Beer Mile

Why:

Gray for May is an event to help give awareness and raise money for the fight against brain cancer. Dylan, the head brewer of Canton Brewing Company, has seen the trial and tribulations of brain cancer personally  through his aunt, Julie Mesaros. Julie was a mother of two young children, a sister and a daughter that fought the good fight against this terrible disease. In honor of her and others fighting, we have brewed a beer in their honor.  The style we chose is a Grisette. A grisette literally means “little gray” and is basically a sessionable saison.  This is an older beer style that was made to quench the thirst of coal miners in Belgium. A dollar per pint will be split between a scholarship fund in Julies name, to help send kids to college, and the American Cancer Society for the month of May.

We also have setup a one mile race since she was a soccer and track star in her younger years. The one mile run will be split into two races in downtown Canton. The first race is the Mile That Matters One Mile Run/Walk and it is completely open to the public who would want to test their one mile wits or for those who would just like to get a one mile walk in for a good cause. Julie also loved beer and we have setup a second race, which will be a One Mile Beer Run. This will be a fun run where every ¼ mile you’ll have to drink a 4 ounce beer for a total of 16 ounces. Each runner will get a swag bag and there will also be special prizes for those who place top of their age group. We also setup a digital run option where if you can’t make it, you can still donate to the cause and give us a promise that you will run/walk a mile at a later date.
